The couple merely drops into any of these retail stores and using a special barcode reader, selects the items they'd most like to have. Those who are ready to purchase wedding gifts for the couple then go to any of the stores in that chain and can have access to the list of wedding gifts the couple selected. The selection of wedding gifts becomes much less of a guess on the part of those purchasing wedding gifts, and the couple receive a better selection of wedding gifts that they truly want and need.
So why wouldn't a list do just as well? A bridal registry of this type has one other major advantage. Once someone selects a particular item and purchases that item as one of their wedding gifts to that couple, the item is removed from the couple's wish list. That means the chances of getting two blenders, toasters and coffee makers is lowered significantly!
